6weeks pregnant and having persistent lower abdominal pain, should I be worried?
I am not bleeding or spotting but have had this persistent lower abdominal pain for 3days now. Its not on either sides, but feels like PMP. Sometimes it goes away when I am walking or doing other things, but when I lie down it comed back. Has anyone had this kind of experience, is it normal? Should I be worried? I am going for scan tomorrow, otherwise I’ll go crazy with worry. Help!
I am 6 wks 4 days and I’ve had cramps for about a week and a half at least. Actually went into the ER doctor about a week ago because they were so bad (but I think I freaked out a bit too- as this is my first pregnany). Went in for a scan a few days later and doctor said everything was fine. If you’re not bleeding I wouldn’t worry too much- Take some Tylenol (no Ibuprofen). Also- I was even spotting, mostly brownish/pinkish and the doctor said that was even normal. They also told me that if you are having pain on one side (although I know you said you aren’t) that it could be from the ovary you conceived off of. Just relax, the stress made mine worse I think and after the doctor did the scan and told me I was ok- I’ve felt quite a bit better. Also, drink lots of water and stay hydrated and rest. Congrats and good luck! Since we’re about on the same week, email me if you have any other questions! Have fun- hope you feel better

Call your OBGYN… always call your obgyn if you are in doubt. They will tell you exactly what to do. They have answering services in the middle of the night and someone will call you back and tell you what to do. Sometimes its normal to have belly pain from everything stretching, My lower abdomen used to hurt when i went from a sitting to standing position, i would get sharp pains. But if you are worried, CALL YOUR DOCTOR!!! Always trust your instinct, if you feel like it could be something then you should get it checked out.

Hi, this is my first pregnancy and i was sooooo worried i’d micarry because i was having really bad pains in my pelvic area…i had these starting at around week 6 all the way up to week 19 and havent had any again until this past week ( week 29 ) so i would say not to worry, especialy as your going for a scan tomorow, but take it easy as your ligaments are all stretching and making you uncomfortable. One thing i noticed was it was easier for me to strain my stomach area when getting out of bed and lifting things etc. I think it was because my muscles were already sensitive…so try and roll out of bed and just take it easy in general. Congrats

I’m 10 weeks pregnant at the moment, and have been having period-like cramps for the past few weeks. This is very common in pregnancy, especially if it’s your first, as your uterus is stretching and enlarging to make room for all the changes happening inside you. The resulting stress on the strong muscle from which the uterus is formed can cause discomfort and pain.
Even though I knew this beforehand, it feels a little more anxiety-provoking when it’s your own pregnancy, so I called the hospital’s early pregnancy support centre for reassurance when mine started! I was advised not to be concerned unless there were other symptoms such as bleeding/spotting, severe vomiting etc. accompanying the pain (in which case, a doctor or midwife should be called to make sure everything’s OK). There’s an awful lot going on in your body right now, after all!
With that in mind, however, there are other – less common – reasons for lower abdominal pain such as ectopic pregnancy and some other conditions. For this reason, and so that you can get some well-needed reassurance that things are indeed progressing normally, it’s a good thing that you’re having a scan tomorrow. I think you’re taking the best course of action you possibly could.
I hope everything works out fine, and that the cramp is indeed just ‘growing pains’. Good luck.
